Yandex changes its attitude towards link exchange.

In the end of December 2006 Yandex search system updated its quotation index calculation algorithm – QI. It is caused by the increase of the amount of Internet sites that conduct link-exchange with all the resources that can be possibly exchanged with. And what’s more, very often the links are put to resources that do not concern at all to the site subject.This all leads to the occurrence of so-called “link-trashbins”, at one hand, and to unjustified QI overestimation, at the other.

For this reason Yandex employees decided to exclude (or to reduce) from the calculation the links, that lead from automatic non-moderated catalogues, and also those ones, that do not concern at all on subjects to indicated sites. This is how Yandex employees comment on this situation.

Alexander Melkov: QI fall was caused by the introduction of the new rule, assigned towards “partial” suppression of link-exchange. We understand the importance of QI and “money” for some of web-masters (especially for those ones, whose salary is depended on it), this is why we try not to shake QI. Nevertheless, the progress is essential, and it isn’t always technically possible to introduce the changes “softly”.

Reported above means one thing: it is necessary to the site convenient for the client first of all, and only after that for search engines. At that point, the rating won’t depend on black and grey promotion methods, and, therefore, all the changes in calculation algorithms would be only useful.
